Introduction of common problems of SPC Floor and methods to prolong its life

SPC Floor has been fully recognized by the market and is widely used in offices, hotels, restaurants, teaching and home decoration places.

However, due to the inexperience of participants such as sales and constructors, the user's experience is not satisfactory. Now, the problems of installation and use will be briefly described.

First, Installation

1: The flatness of the old floor (ceramic tile, terrazzo, wood floor, etc.) should meet the requirements. If the floor is not tiled, it will lead to problems such as ups and downs of SPC floor, tripping and lifting, and broken boards. The thinner the floor thickness, the larger the layout, the higher the requirements for the flatness of the ground. Before paving, the height difference of the ground can be detected with a 3-meter ruler. If it is determined that leveling treatment is needed, the scheme should be selected according to the site conditions:

A. Fine leveling-you can choose cement-based self-leveling (about 3-5mm thick), which has high cost, good strength and is not afraid of water.

B. Thick layer leveling-gypsum-based self-leveling (above 1㎝) can be selected, which is economical and applicable, with average strength, and is afraid of water (it is not recommended for damp ground).

2: When SPC stone-plastic floor with thickness of less than 8mm is installed, it is possible to add moisture-proof film (or shock-absorbing pad) with thickness of ≤ 2mm, but thick foam floor mat is forbidden. Because the thin SPC floor will transmit the surface load pressure downwards, the floor mat is soft and can't bear the concentrated point load, and the legs of tables, chairs, cabinets, etc. are easily compressed and deformed after being pressed, resulting in deformation, fracture, tripping and other problems of SPC floor due to foundation gaps.

3: Must be installed by experienced construction personnel. When SPC floor is installed, the appropriate reserved expansion gap, click  tightness between floors, paving direction, edge closing method and joint treatment should be determined according to the floor thickness, material and area, etc., all of which require rich experience.

Second, the use of the floor

1: The wear-resistant layer of SPC floor is usually made of PVC+UV coating material. Its wear resistance is not tested by extreme damage test with nail brushes, sharp objects, etc., but by simulating the friction environment between the soles of human feet and the floor in the laboratory. It is measured by the number of revolutions of round steel wheels rolling on its surface to wear through. The higher the number of revolutions, the better the wear resistance. The thicker the wear-resistant layer, the better the wear resistance. It is only a marketing tool to test the abrasion resistance of the floor by means of extreme destruction,

2: The feet of metal beds (cabinets, tables, chairs) should be separated from the floor with rubber pads, which can reduce the impact on the floor to avoid scratches or rust. When moving large items on the floor, it is forbidden to push them directly on the ground, and they should be moved off the ground (lift or pulley).

If you want to prolong the service life of the floor, you must know these five points.

1: Although SPC flooring is stronger than solid wood flooring, its wear resistance and durability are relatively strong. However, when carrying articles, especially when there are sharp metal objects at the bottom, do not drag them directly on the floor to avoid damaging the floor.

2: In the daily cleaning of SPC floor, you can't scrape it with a cleaning ball or a knife. Dirt that cannot be cleaned by conventional methods should be cleaned by consulting relevant after-sales personnel. Do not use chemicals such as acetone and toluene at will, so as not to damage SPC floor.

3: The fire protection rating of SPC floor is generally B1, which is a kind of flame retardant building decoration material, but this does not mean that SPC floor is not afraid of fire, so please be careful not to burn cigarette butts; Mosquito incense, charged iron, etc in daily life. Metal objects with high temperature placed directly on the floor will damage the floor.

4: If the surface of SPC floor is damaged or damaged, it can be cleaned and waxed for maintenance, which can effectively prolong its service life.

5: The main component of SPC floor is PVC, so it is good in waterproof and water resistance. However, we also need to avoid a large amount of water staying on the floor surface for a long time, because the floor will lose its luster, and the surface of the floor may be polluted due to the moisture layer of protective wax.
